It was a privilege to speak at the first gathering of Worker Co-operatives in Scotland in two decades.
On Thursday 27th October I joined co-operators from around Scotland at an event organised by Media Co-op and Greencity. The event was an opportunity to hear about the launch of a new Federation for Worker Co-ops and reinvigorate the network.
I heard from Co-operative Development Scotland on the work they are doing to grow the sector and from Liz Maguire at Glasgow City Council on the support Glasgow provides.
Worker Co-operatives are an important part of economy and give better opportunities and support to their workers than private business, Co-ops are more resilient and are at the centre of community wealth building.
It was a great opportunity to be able to talk about the work of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Co-operatives and how worker co-ops can get involved.
